I am City therefore I dread. Yesterday I dreaded for only a very brief period of time after kickoff. City were bossing it from the gitgo despite numerous cheap giveaways and a missed penalty. Loserpool were dreadful and we were pretty damn good. My emotional health is in the hands of City may god be merciful.
We have always been notorious for squandering a lead yet yesterday didn’t seem as likely to be the case. The defending chumps were chumping away and we got lucky. I’ll take it!
I was never worried pre match , or when haalands pen was saved or when it looked like they had equalised!! Alcohol really helps at times but faith in the greatest coach in football history is also a useful tool !!
Yesterday is up there with Real Madrid 2023 and countless other victories in recent years ( and the occasional one going way back ) where you just have to sit back and go “ wow” !! I watched Liverpool on tv beating Madrid last week and although they thoroughly deserved the win over a woefully inept real I did not see much to give pep any sleepless nights in preparation for yesterday . My personal man of the match is Bernardo Silva and just for his “ guarding “ of the penalty spot he deserves it , but his overall contribution was immense as was every other player in sky blue .As you say another international break is a pain but hopefully the players come back even more rejuvenated than of late to take on Newcastle who aren’t exactly ripping up trees in the league at present
I didn't expect what unfolded prior to the kick off. Overall, Liverpool's general ineffectiveness in attack surprised me, as did the number of times City caught them offside.
A nod to the defence's discipline, but also to our yellow cards, conceded when they were needed.
As for the final paragraph, I like it when a sinner repents, ha ha!
Completely agree with all you've said. Nico O'Reilly is an amazing player to see grow. Like a thorough bred race horse, just pure class. Come on City 🩵
I never really knew what to expect until we started playing and then realised this game maybe different. I think the players mindset has totally changed this season, I have just read that Pep thinks the many injuries we suffered last season was due to the players lack of motivation, but this season they actually want to win the league. The atmosphere in the ground was amazing, we even did the Poznan after the 3rd goal. But agree with you Dan my eye was on the clock waiting for it to all go wrong. Your piece Dan as always explains what we witnessed in great and articulate detail. Liverpool is the team we fear now the days of worrying about the derby are not here for now. The next thing for me is to win at Anfield, as that is always a challenge for any team.
It was such an excellent game for Peps celebration the players and the fans did him proud I am sure there would have been 1 or 2 glaases of red being consumed.

I said to my girlfriend during the game that I wouldn't relax until we went 3-0 up, and then I still didn't relax.
